Dear Gary Savage there is something you should know

by | 16 Feb, 2017 |

Dear Gary Savage,

There is something you should know! Your loyal customers are spending on average £45,000 with your retailers, and are seriously annoyed. Not only that, but we are also embarrassed and frightened to drive your vehicles. This covers primarily the whole of the GLC range, but we have also collated reports from C43 and E43 models.

You should understand that every customer that receives a response from the CEO office stating this ‘characteristic’ is merely a comfort issue and that MBUK will not be taking any corporate action or responsibility to remedy it, is a customer that will likely never buy Mercedes again. All over the country you are causing blood to boil and most customers are dumb-founded by the lack of ownership from such a prestige, brand-conscious manufacturer.

If you were to drive an affected vehicle for any significant period of time you would agree that this is not acceptable in any manufacturer’s vehicle, let alone in your own brand, a brand that you as CEO should cherish the reputation of. Your ‘head in the sand’ approach to owning and rectifying this issue is a disgrace to the prestige name of Mercedes Benz.

Dear Gary Savage, what are you going to do about it?

Dear Gary Savage

Lorraine Bailey

Dear Gary, I am an extremely dissatisfied customer. I have a new GLC Mercedes 250d which has had this fault from the outset. The noise has been so loud that I initially thought I had collided with something! Banging, jumping and clunking in a supposedly premium...

Bryan

I probably don't need to go into to much detail with the fault that I have with my GLC as you probably know that already what I am surprised at is the treatment of an awful lot of your unhappy customers and the lack of understanding from a supposed blue chip company ....

Neil Shorter

Dear Gary Like many others I feel that Mercedez is not treating their customers with respect in connection with the crabbing issue at low speeds. I purchased a GLC AMG line in September last year and it has has a number of issues including having the COMAND system...

Vincent Goldie

I purchased what I thought was a luxury car in the GLC Coupe a month ago. The crabbing 'characteristic' is horrendous. It feels terribly unsafe and it's hugely embarrassing. It is also causing excessive tyre wear and the problem is getting progressively worse over...

Steve

My C43 Coupe is my fourth Mercedes (2 x C350 and 1 x E400 Cabriolet before) and all have made slight graunching noises on full lock. My C43 is by far the worst though (loudest and skips 2-3 inches sideways across road surface - never had that before). Mercedes are...

Lilian & Tony McKenzie

Dear Gary, The low speed juddering, bouncing, knocking and crabbing experienced in our GLC is disgraceful. We are embarrassed to take friends and family out in our new £47k MB GLC because at low speed it drives like a tractor, passengers think we have a puncture or a...

Trevor ‘Toobad’

Having earned the accolade of Business Leader of the Year 2016, you must be fully aware of the saying "You never get a second chance to make a first impression." I have dreamt all my life of owning a prestige car and it has taken over 40 years of hard work and...

David

Having purchased the GLC sport in November 2015, probably one of the first in the UK ,I am surprised at the attitude from Mercedes towards the crabbing problem. To call this a "characteristic" of the vehicle is completely wrong and when parking in tight spaces or when...

Mike Turner

Dear Gary, Take a nice new shiny one from one of your forecourts and drive it out of a parking space on full lock like I do every time I take mine out. Then tell me this 'characteristic' is what you'd expect having paid £40k + for a car. Quite frankly your dealers are...

Mark Gooda

Disappointed is an understatement, this is not tyre related - the abuse of the intelligence of us existing owners in this respect is shocking. Seriously, a waiver on delivery for new owners to sign. Somewhat farcical. Treat us existing owners with the care we deserve...

Jean-Paul de Jong

Dear Gary Savage, We remember it like the day of yesterday when I ordered the replacement of our beloved GL class Mercedes. I went to Sytner in Milton Keynes where I purchase my previous Mercedes Benz, and Karyn assisted me just like she done before. My wife and...

Shiv Kapoor

Mr Savage, I bought a GLC 250D AMG for my wife in March 2016. Because of the juddering and banging issues she now basically refuses to take the car to certain places where they may be tight turns (for example multi storey car parks). She is uncomfortable driving the...

Steve Mynard

Comments about “comfort issues” and “characteristics” are not fooling anybody. MB’s image is tarnished and continuing with this arrogant stance is not helping. Do the decent thing, admit there is a problem and present a credible solution. I am not expecting miracles,...

Joe Guest

My wife will no longer drive the car as it's embarrassing skipping and jumping all round car parks. We both loved this car but now it's undriveable in London streets.

Bryan Nutter

The measure of a quality Company is when they are prepared to omit to problems and say how they will address and resolve them. The attitude by Mercedes UK towards very genuine customers concerns has been defensive and dismissive. This approach will ultimately have a...

Mick Beard

As a Paralympian, hearing "it's a comfort issue" is a pretty big deal to me as I have 5 vertabrae fused together in my c-spine and the skipping is incredibly painful. After a trip out in my C43 Coupe last week, I was laid up in bed for nearly 2 days. I bought Mercedes...

Andrew Watson

Hi my name is Andrew Watson, we currently own four Mercedes Benz vehicles, three Mercedes Citan Vans and a MercedesGLC 250 AMG line. After the debacle with the GLC I will not be buying another MB vehicle. Mercedes is a brand I held in high estimation a luxury brand. I...

Matt Tee

Dear Gary, It is quite clear that the crabbing issue degrades the front tyres quite quickly, and hence the 'comfort' issue will quickly become a 'safety issue' in my view. In addition, who wants to by a (potentially) £50k car with any issue at all (comfort, safety, or...

Ian Sherwood

My GLC 250D was my first purchase of a Mercedes vehicle, it will also be my last, not because I am worried that another model will exhibit a 'characteristic' but because of your flagrant disregard to own this issue (sorry, characteristic) and 'do the right thing'....

Viren Joshi

Dear Mr Savage, I would like to take this opportunity to convey my disappointment with my GLC 43 AMG which I took delivery of late October 2016. Almost immediately I noticed this so called 'crabbing' characteristic when turning full lock. Not only is the noise...

REHAN SIDDIQUI

Dear Gary I hope you are well. I would like to update you with the current situation of my car. Firstly I am quite disappointed in the fact that the CEO office (Kylie) has not followed up with me after your last mail to me below. I would have thought that you would...

Tracy Reid

Why would Mercedes Benz think it acceptable to leave their customers embarrassed by their cars. Well that's exactly what you've done. You've ruined the whole experience of buying my first Mercedes but one things for sure it will be my last.

Lucy Southee

The disappointment and despair I have experienced with your product and customer service is insurmountable. £49,000 of clunking German engineering at +13degC. The +7degC excuse is now worn out. You are insulting educated, intelligent consumers. Stop it and come clean...
